The only advice I wpuld give is either read the small print very carefully, or don't bother. I thought I had insurance eith NPower that covered my combi for labour and parts, and I am paying £11.99 a month for this. Last weekend my boiler went on the blink, and I called out an engineer. It needed a new circuit board at a cost of £330 ! The fitter said he wasn't authorised to replace it without clearance from NPower. To cut a long story short they refused to replace it saying that my boiler was beyond economical repair because it was over 10 years old. They take your money every month, don't let you know that your boiler is too old, even though it has been insured with them from new, and then refuse to pay out when you need it. I think that a lot of the policies out there will be similar.0

Further to Amandathepanda's situation :
I was looking into this also, and I believe that you need to have your boiler regulartly Serviced (annualy I suppose) for the policy to pay out for any claims.
I think this was with Britich Gas, but it's still worth enquiring about.
