Can anyone recommend which is the best student currunt acount available. I know some banks/building societies offer incentives, but which are actually useful. Are Natwest still offering a free Railcard because i can't seem to find it?
The Nationwide seems to be offering the best interest rate of 4.25%, but thats not with a student account. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the link.
It seems like quite a few people are having trouble with HBOS, not sure if it's just the staff at certain branches or more widespread problems.
Will have to look into Natwest, as they seem like a good alternative.0 -
Halifax offer the highest student overdraft (£2,750) but it might take you a while to get it. They will only give you £500 to start with, bit of a con if you ask me.
Both Natwest and Lloyds TSB are good, I hold accounts with both. I've been with Natwest for several years and never had a problem with there service, however I was impressed with LTSB giving me the full £1,500 overdraft on the same day I opened the account, no questions asked. If you need quick access to some additional funds they are definately a good one to consider.0 -
some do get more than £500 - if you have already had an account there before
The increase will be based on the funds you credit the account with. ie student loan0 -
I've got a student account with HSBC and its good - £1000 overdraft and there's a choice of things you can get when you join - £50 or 10 cds and something else.. but i can't remember!Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
