Moving Line Rental from Sky to Primus?

Went to put an order through HomePhoneChoices for Primus and when I select Sky as my current phone provider it says, it can't be done online.
I looked into it further and there's a suggestion that I have to move my line rental back to BT (with a minimum 12 month contract!) before I can switch to Primus. I'm not sure if this is currently still the case??
The line was originally a BT line. I've seen the phrase "return to donor" banded around along with LLU and MPF.
Does anyone have accurate information about the current situation? Are there any online resources I can use to check my line for switching.
PS I've just successfully moved my broadband from Sky to plusnet on this line, if that has any bearing.
Thanks

Just adding some info from another thread:who do you pay line rental to ?, BT or Sky, if its Sky and you are a full LLU/MPF user, then you couldnt go to Primus without a lot of messing on, if you dial 17070 on your landline, and you get a AVR like ' Hi I'm Zoe' then you are Sky MPF
Interested to know more about the last bit. I tried 17070 from my phone and got the message, "This circuit is defined as xxxxxx. BT Line test facilities. Please press one for ring back...."
Some info from another forum:izools wrote:
When you pay someone other than BT Retail for line rental, the deliver the service in one of two ways:
1. WLR (Wholesale Line Rental) - This is where the line remains connected to BT Wholesale PSTN equiptment in the exchange and the WLR provider pay BT Wholesale. Providers like Primus, and the Post Office use this method.
Lines delivered using this method can be migrated easily to other companies for line rental.
2. MPF (Metal Path Facility) - This is where the line is no longer connected to BT Wholesale PSTN equiptment in the exchange but is instead connected to the service provider's own PSTN equiptment. MPF providers do not pay BT Wholesale anything as no BT Wholesale equiptment is being used. They only pay Openreach for the rental of the copper pair to your house (the "Metallic Path Facility"). Providers like TalkTalk and Sky use this method.
Lines delivered using this method cannot be migrated to other companies for line rental unless it is first switched back to BT Retail or another WLR provider first.
So the 17070 test, together with the fact that I managed to get a mac code from Sky and transfer my broadband without any problem, suggest my line is not on MPF? And Primus should be able to take it on without any problem?0 -
It does indeed look that way as I think a SKY line can only have Sky BB on it,try putting BT as current provider when putting order through. So the 17070 test, together with the fact that I managed to get a mac code from Sky and transfer my broadband without any problem, suggest my line is not on MPF? Are you on a Sky LLU exchange? What broadband service are you currently on?
Do an exchange search on samknows. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Yeah, I might just try putting it through and see what happens. Are you on a Sky LLU exchange? What broadband service are you currently on?

Yes, it's a Sky LLU exchange. The BB service from Sky was initially "Mid" (£5) then "Unlimited" (£7.50). As of last week I'm now with Plusnet on the "Value" package (£6.49).0 -
Before you make a serious mistake for the sake of a couple of quid, please, please ring Primus on the sales line and Customer Service lin and ask them.
If you manage to get a reply on both - even either - then you can ignore my post.
But if you get the standard results, then there is no way you will ever, ever use this company. Search all the negative posts here and elsewhere.
They used to be good, I believe, but they are reported to be the pits now. I know, because I was tempted.
It's your call, of course, but you will regret it, I am confident.0
