Why do Natwest and RBS operate so differently

Than all the other banks. Here are some glaring differences about those two banks compared with all the others.
1. Benefits are paid to the account 48 hours early if you are due to be paid your benefits on a Monday. All other banks pay you on the Monday but not these two.
2. If you have a direct debit set up for a bill lets say £60 monthly" and the money isn't all there, the bank actually pays that Direct Debit to the company - but takes it back a day later - rather than just bounce the direct debit.
3. If you spend a quid or less on your debit card it doesn't get deducted from your account for 48 hours technically allowing you to repeatedly spend the same quid. Every other bank deducts that immediately,
So if anybody has any inside info as to why those two banks operate so different than the rest please.

Credits get updated, when the systems are updated at the end of the previous day. For Monday this occurs at approx 2am Saturday morning. NB this is also when Monday's DD payments are taken so beware.2. They show the payment as being taken which gives you the opportunity to pay money into the account to enable the payment to be made. I suspect many people have been grateful for the opportunity to avoid fees.3. That's not how it happens on my account. Hopefully someone else can explain. So if anybody has any inside info as to why those two banks operate so different than the rest please.
Each bank will have its own systems. There is no one method of banking. NB I'm not an insider, just a customer.0 -

If you have the Purple Visa Debit Card (Offline) then that is why it does not debit in real-time and the amount is below the merchants floor level.
It's only the Blue Visa Debit Card that is a full-auth card which checks for funds in real time.David

Just the same with Barclays - no difference. All BACS credits and direct debits arriving on Monday are showing over the weekend. If you send a BACS credit to me@Barclays on Thursday, I'll see it on Saturday morning, even if the actual date for it is on Tuesday (if Monday is a bank holiday).Enjoy the silence...0
