No it's a coach contracted by the council. It was free for us until this term when they decided to charge for non-Catholic children.

They won't pay for any transport for faith schools for any child from next years intake.

Mine got in but they've been in a Catholic feeder primary from nursery school and we got to know the parish priest through school masses and other church activities. He wrote a reference for each of them and that bumped them up the admission criteria.

It's worth a try though as it's a very good school and both my boys are doing well there.
I'll put it as my 3rd option anyway, just in case. I know it's a good school I just didn't consider it because, well as you said it's oversubscribed too.

The whole senior school admissions thing here is totally ridiculous at the moment. It's so messed up, some schools have feeder schools, some have catchment areas and some have distance from school. Yet we are all now the same local authority area. How the heck is that supposed to work?

£240 per term (can't be used in school holidays) so £720 for 39 weeks travel. The council used to contribute £80 towards the cost per term but thats stopped now so it's the full £240 per term to find :(

I have looked on the internet at how much other councils charge and the one's i've seen are all £600 per year so yours is really high. I was told by Gloucestershire Council that they "can't be seen to be subsidising non entitled bus passes".

and you still learnt to read and write :D:p

Seriously though the horror stories I've heard about how bad it's been the past 5 years is enough to give me nightmares about sending him there. The bullying is shocking and the GCSE results have been dire. They have improved slightly in the last few years but I still don't want him going there.
