As it says above - can this be done?
The card number is too long - so when I asked Halifax last night they said it couldnt be done.
Is there any way around this?
Thanks

You don't say whether you are looking for a 0% or low LOB balance transfer.
If this is of no importance I would get a credit card cheque pay off the Argos card with one of those.0 -
sorry - I have two new cards - I'm becoming a tart
the andmore for the 3.9% and the HBOS one card for 12 months 0%
I guess I could use an existing credit card to pay it off, then transfer it to one of these yes?
D'oh - how daft of meI have no more money to give - all you companies out there - do your worst - I give in!!0 -
But you still need a method of clearing your Argos card. As I see it if a cheque is not an option then you will have to cash on a card (with fees and interest approaching 30%!!) pay off the card.0

Go and buy yourself some M&S Sterling travellers cheques -from an M&S 'in store' bureau de change or order online/by phone - with your &more card (you'll be charged a 1% handling fee).
They'll be given at 0% for 12 months (from account opening). Pay them into your current account (LTSB & Nationwide definitely take them. A&L *tell* me they do). Wait for them to clear, and then pay off your Argos card from your current account.
See here for further details...

CAUTION: Do not use this method if you can't be sure of clearing the entire M&S balance before the 12 month introductory period is up.0 -
Get a MBNA card or Virgin (same company) and they let you do balance tansfers into your current account (with a BT fee obviously) and pay it off from there.0
