VW Polo vs. Vauxhall Corsa

Yes, I've driven both of them. I like the Polo more, but Vauxhall's 100k warranty looks attractive. Is it dependable though?
If you prefer the drive of the Polo then I'd go with that. You will be driving it for 5 years so have the car you prefer. Reliability is all relative and unless you get a lemon you are unlikely to have a major issue with any of the major manufacturers. (There will always be individual cars that disprove that) VW's aren't as reliable as they were but are not unreliable. My Golf has had 2 faults since new (radio and exhaust sensor) but hasn't let me down once in over 2 years.
If buying from new the the Polo is a better purchase if you plan to replace it in 3/5 years as running costs including depreciation will be less. If keeping it for 10 years then depreciation isn't an issue.
THIS LINK may assist with your search. You may like to consider the Honda Jazz or Toyota Yaris (or others) in the top 10, based on this data.0 -
I second the Panda recommendation, I've done almost 60K miles in just over 3 years with no problems at all - front springs were replaced under warranty but I hadn't noticed any issue with them, the garage did it at the last service. Sailed through it's first MoT, cheap to buy (but make sure you get a 1.2 rather than the lower powered versions) and run, OK to drive and surprisingly spacious.0
