Thomas Cook shambolic treatment!!!

Why will Thomas Cook not help me??? I booked a hotel with them online and the details of the hotel were incorrect.
They detailed the location of a hotel of the same name in a different resort.
I booked the Ponde Grande in Carvoeiro Portugal. (but the details for the location are for the Ponde Grande Albufiera - the sister resort)
I am now going to be stuck in a hotel which claimed to be 0.5km from nearest beach...but is in fact 5-6km into the hills?????
I booked with TC.....my confirmation email says "thank you for booking with TC" my itinery ref says "TC INTINERY REF"....the telephone number say" thank you for calling TC"
I am travelling on Tuesday with 2 young children but TC have passed the buck saying I booked with expedia???!!!
The confusion with Thomas Cook/Expedia is frustrating. I was using TC website...it DIDNOT redirect me to Expedia. My confirmation states I've booked with Thomas Cook. Its an absolute con! I wanted to book with TC as I thought I would be safe. How wrong!!! When I ring the number on my booking reservation that to says Thomas Cook
But its actually Expedia and NOT TC and they keep palming me off saying they'll ring me back.
I had one ring back on Thursday from a guy who was very nice and asked if I'd be ok to move to the sister resort?? I said yes of course, no problem.......but now all they say when I ring back is the hotel manager won't reply to them???
I asked why I can't be transfered to A N Other hotel but he said its a non changable hotel!!!
Fair enough if it was my mistake but its clearly not and they have admitted so. So why am I the one to suffer??:mad::mad:

why does it not make sense?
well actually...you are right!! But thats whats happened! I am as confused as you may be.
Please...ask me a question and I'll break it down, as I have had a week from hell.0 -
if you build your own package, flight/hotel or just hotel on Thomas Cook website, you actually book through Expedia.0

So I have found out.....who are not covered by ABTA......and now ABTA will not do anything either! So why does all my confirmation say Thomas Cook????
I am so mad.
Also, I have re-formatted my original post as it was all over the place. Thanks globglobglob, it wasn't making sense (only to me)0 -
Very underhand TBH. This should be clearly stated when booking. You should be transfered to expedia page/site if your booking is with them like other sites do. In future, I will NEVER EVER use Thomas Cook or Expedia again.
Thanks for your comments guys.0 -
I actully found this out when I was trying to use some Bonus Bonds which are usable thro Thomas Cook.. god knows how because when you ring it is not Thomas Cook and its guess who part of Expedia... I agree its rubbish - Have you moved things on at all...0

From my past experience with Thomas Cook, they're brilliant at fobbing you off and ignoring emails/requests etc, and only really take notice when you involve trading standards/consumer direct!
So my advice would be to either phone up your local council's trading standards department asap or consumer direct, and see if they can help.
