Google Adwords help and advice needed

Options
Hi all in january I started my business as a massage therapist and in doing so got a website and set up a google account. After a while I received a voucher for £50 from Google to set up an adwords campaign. I set up the campaign and had a view to cancelling it when it reached its limit. When I went to the google adwords summary page it led me to believe that I still had credit remaining but when I checked my bank account today I found that £140 had been taken from my account and I have promptly cancelled the campaign. I feel angry with myself and also misled and wonder if I should just put this down to experience or get onto google and demand a refund. Your help would be appreciated as I know how hard it is to start a business and get myself know but not at such a great expense

if you put the bank details in - then you have given authority.

If you didnt, the ad would have run until you ran out of credit.

On the upside, if yuo ran out of credit quickly - people are interested

This depends on how much of a "Value" you have set on each click or impression. Adspace is essentially auctioned to companies who have set a higher Price per click. If you have set a low value, you'll only see you adverts appearing on websites very occasionally.

I myself set up Adwords and set each click at 5p per click two months ago, at the time I thought that was a good amount, but logging into my Forgotten adwords account there I see I have yet to gain a single Impression on any website that hosts google adverts.

I am curious However OP, did you find that you had an increase in Business or interest from potential customers between January and now, and What was your Price per click amount set at, if you don't mind sharing?

so where does the money go as in the ops case?
  • The money is split between Google and the owners of any websites who host Googles Adverts via their Adsense Programme. Looking at my account now, one of My Keywords is 'Website builder' as I was offering bands cheap and easy web design. any websites hosting Adsense that contain this Keyword in it's content text will display my advert. However, the average Price per Click on that Keyword is currently £2.50! Meaning I would need to raise my Price Per Click by at least £2.45 to stand a chance of being advertised...and even if I did, it would cost me £2.50 every time a potential customer clicks through to my site.
