Is it worth getting the Barcelona card?

Going for 6 night stay in Barcelona in October.
Is it worth getting the Barcelona card?
It covers calendar days - not 24 hour period. So a 4-day card would be best?
It seems that you can only use it on the day when you turn up for attractions - is that true? I would prefer to book some vistis in advance. For example, I bought tickets for a concert in Palau de musica catalana online - then realised the card offers 20% discount.

Is the card worth it for the free transport alone?

Thanks for your help.

  • personally I don think its worth the money - use t10 tickets to get around
  • I did some quick searching and came across this page which explains the T10 card.
It does seem to be a better option for us. I don't mind walking - and I think it would e quite welcome because we want to see as much of the city as possible!
We booked an apartment and now I remember we got a discount booklet for some attractions anyways.
    Here's the page I found:

  • Sorry it was a very quick reply - late!

The T10 is really easy to use and you can buy at the main P Catalunya Metro... You can usefully use it on buses (but can only buy at the metro) you can also transfer across free within timescale so if you need a metro and then a bus.. possibly for Guell Park or outside the centre... it saves money > You will have to ask for the transfer tho. You only need one and then buy another as you can use for more than one person.

Barcelona is a compact city and you will be able to walk around most sights.. If you walk the whole of the promenade to Barceloneta its quite a walk back but you can jump on a bus.

Have been to Barca many many times so happy to give advice.. BTW well done on booking the concert Palau de la Musica is a highlight and often missed. If you want to do a tour pre book this as often its booked up a few days ahead.
