Council tax crediT

I am a single mom with a 6 yr old daughter and have been separated from my husband for nearly a year. I am currently living in the marital home and having to pay for all the household bills myself as well as half the mortgage. I have had the 25% reduction on my council tax bill but cant seem to get any more allowances! I currently pay just over £80 per month council tax which when I am getting near enough the same in child allowance then that may as well pay for my council tax! I only work part-time 16 hours per week - my annual wage is just over £8000. I dont think it is fair that I should be paying this amount as I am really struggling with my bills at the present as I expect most other people are :-(
Has anyone got any help for me!

Council tax benefit should pay a part of the bill. Have you applied for it. Do you have other income apart from the £8,000 in wages. Such as Tax Credits, Child Maintenance?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I'm sure you must be getting child benefit and child tax+working tax credit these alone should push you up to quite a reasonable income, you'll also have whatever money you get from the father of your child.
Try putting your details through entitled to and see if there is anything else you can claim.

A lot of people on low earnings are pushed out of being able to claim Council Tax Benefit because of the tax credits they get - they take in to account the vast majority of the various income types a person has, not just those which are from employment/self-employment.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

they will include your child tax credits/working tax credits as income but not the maintenance, but given your income your CTC/WTC+CB must be around the same as your income...if for some reason you are not receiving CTC/WTC get a claim in now0

Thats not the whole truth is it? You also have at least £2500 Child Tax Credit plus Working Tax Credit as well.0
