Yorkshire Building Society - dividend info

I have various UK stocks, the dividends of which are paid into my YBS easy access account. The problem I have is that the dividend credit never shows the source stock of dividend i.e, BP Dividend or HSBC Dividend, just "a generic dividend line and credit amount.
So I do get the stock dividends okay (i think) - but its hard to track my portfolio for Inland Revenue tax purposes and ensure I haven't missed a payment.
Is this something I should expect from a BS - I have written to YBS to ask for the credit ammount to include source stock info, but not received a response.
Thanks,

Are your shares held directly or via a broker?
I use an online broker and can pull up statements showing all the dividends I have been paid.0 -

For tracking your dividends received you should use the dividend vouchers that you receive - either paper or electronic, and either may be consolidated. These vouchers also show the associated tax credit (if any) which will also be used for reporting to HMRC. The payment into your account will not show this.Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

I do have a mixture -some older ones with paper certificates, other with Equiniti and Compushare -depending on the respective Company affiliation with electronic....Equiniti being a much simpler and easier to track through.
So alas it becomes a three or four stage loop for some shares to make sure I have the dividend and which company. Natwest show the individual company for instance on a dividend credit, where YBS don't.0 -

Whether you have share certificates or not surely does not mean that you don't receive dividend payment vouchers??0 -
It isn't the responsibility of the recieiving account provider to reconcile these payments for you.
That's your job, using the information provided by the payers.0 -
If you moved all your shares into a nominee account with a firm like Motley Fool it would be easy. Just one printout per year from their site then gives you all the information needed for tax purposes and you can also log on at any time and find out what dividends you've received recently.0
