Recs for a DAB Radio

Not sure if this is the right place so hope someone can help :D

I fancy a DAB radio for the kitchen so nothing too massive and preferably easy on the purse too.

Can anyone recommend one at all? Had a quick browse on the web and there were loads for every price, didn't just want to pick the cheapest if it's not going to be any good.

Cheers

Check you can receive DAB first, and all the channels you want...google

My mum who lives 5 mins walk away can receive DAB so is it safe to assume I will get it too?

I'd recommend the Pure Evoke Marshall.
Its a special edition that is a little louder than the normal model.
If you need that bit extra you can turn the volume up to 11.

The Pure mini is very good. Under £40 at Richer Sounds.

A Pure One is ideal for the kitchen. It's mono, but the DAB receiver is quite sensitive. Richer Sounds sells those too, including refurbed ones:

Hoping this year is better than the last. :)

Ooooh I like that Pure Evoke one but it's more than I can afford to spend.
Gonna sound really thick but are the smaller ones suitable for say the kitchen window sill likely to be mono or can you get stereo ones? Sorry completely dense when it comes to gadgets hence this thread LOL

  • DAB radios are more expensive to buy and run than analogue (FM/AM) ones so if you're on a budget I'd only get one if there's a DAB only station you really want to listen to.

Regarding stereo, you're not really likely to benefit much from this using a small radio on the kitchen window sill and some DAB stations are only mono anyway.

    What station(s) did you want?

This seems to be the normal pure one with a preset Talksport button. A very good price. Hughes have shops here in E Anglia, but delivery is only £5.
It works off the mains, but if you intend to move it around then I would buy the charge pack. Not cheap at £25 ish, but saves buying batteries.

I have just bought a Sony ZDR-S55 Portable DAB radio from Tesco ( delivered in store) for £37.98 & 74 points.
It is a beautiful little machine(like all things Sony)
I can recommend it to anyone who insists on clarity and functionality as being a priority.

  • i had initially bought a phillips dab clock radio appx £40, total waste of time, worked only once. I then bought a Asda DAB radio a year later for £25. Best purchase ever. I bought it for the kitchen but then we were given a Pure Sensia as a gift which now resides in the kitchen as it also has internet radio. I moved the Asda DAB to the bedroom. Ive even taken the DAB few times around the country whilst staying in various hotels, good reception in most cities that I been too, sorry haven't really been to any remote areas.

I highly recommend the Asda DAB, i have checked Asda Direct and its now gone up in price to £28.30 heres the link
