How can I buy a football ticket when I am not a club member?

Hi, I've never bought a football ticket before, so I have this difficulty.
A visitor of my family wants to see match of either Chelsea or Arsenal. So I went to their websites, but apparently only a member can find a ticket.
Is there any way for a non-member to buy tickets to see their performances in London?
Thank you.

Best chance would be Carling Cup or early Champions league matches, these are midweek games so won't finish until 10p.m. Check the clubs websites for "General sale" dates, no membership required.
Premier league games will be more difficult, although there might be a chance against less "fashionable" opposition. If it's a one off treat then maybe a Thomas Cook break might be good, a night in a hotel and a match ticket from £99, see HERE0 -
Wonderful. I was able to book a match via Thomas Cook. It seems very promising.
Thank you for your great advice.0 -
First thing to do would be to visit the website of the team you want to see as you'll be hopefully be able to book tickets there. Availability may depend on the team you want to see and how quickly you act!
n.b. If you come to watch Colwyn Bay F.C. you don't need a ticket, you just pay at the gate - http://www.colwynbayfc.co.uk/fixtures.htmlThe fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

On the theme of other games if you can't get into your chosen one (see above). You could always give Ross County a go, I can't guarentee a "performance", but you you'll definitely get a ticket, and the pies are first rate. Try the East stand and you get majestic mountain scenary thrown in for free.
Downside.....571 miles away from London
ps...we won today....:T

I did this last year for my son-in-laws 40th birthday and it cost just over £400 for him and my two grandsons to see a Liverpool match. My DD booked a family room at the same hotel for her and I and the other two boys and it cost £75.00 On the way up to Liverpool from Kent the match was cancelled because of snow, but we carried on nonetheless. On arrival at the same hotel Simon and two boys were given the same room as us opposite ours and we took them to see the Anfield ground as the boys were so dissapointed. On getting back home I went to Thomas Cook to get a refund on the tickets ect and eventually after a month received just over a hundred pounds refund .We had been charged £ 222 admin costs for a game we never got to see I would never ever use Thomas Cook again as the tickets came to £105 The room was £75.00 and I paid out £402 for the trip.Robbers the lot of them:mad::mad::mad: On writing to complain the rather rude letter I received back almost three months later more or less said 'Tough you pay your money you take your pick.'0 -
Another option (not necessarily a cheap one) is to book a hospitality ticket. You'll get to see much sought after games with a meal thrown in! The bonus is you can book months in advance guaranteeing your ticket.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0

Gumtree.com is always a good bet for London matches, I've picked tickets up for visiting friends a couple of times. The ads tend to go up and get removed quickly as they are not allowed to be resold so when an admin notices an ad it will get taken down.
Check regularly a few days before the game you want in the tickets section, they will usually be advertised as "Blues vs reds" etc as to not set off the automated ad vetting systemIn urgent need of a large lottery win...0 -

Only if you're stupid enough to part with money upfront. I've always insisted on meeting them face to face and paid cash somewhere in London and have never had an issue. Anyone with half a brain cell can work out one of our friendly Nigerian scammers. In urgent need of a large lottery win...0
