homemade fruit bread/loaf

hi i really want to make homemade fruit bread as for a small loaf of walburtons is rather pricey and doesnt last 5 mins in my house! has anyone got any recipes please i am especially keen to know how they get the bread all moist and sticky like? i want to use a bread based recipe with flour and yeast as opposed to a fruit cake style recipe. thanks in advance!:beer:

The stickyness come from the glaze - bakeries will use a bought in glaze but it's basically a sugar syrup that's brushed over the loaf whilst it's still warm. I'd just warm up a couple of tablespoons of sugar with a similar amout of water until it's thick and sticky, and then brush it on the warm loaf. You can also add some spices too (the glazes sold to bakeries for hot cross buns have spices in them) or just leave it plain.0

Sorry, I always think of the next question later, lol. Are you using a bread maker? Only reason is I have a breadmaker recipe so can give you the quantities but don't know the "hands on" method as the bm just needs it all in together and it does the hard work!:hello:
