The situation ideally would that we would both be managers of the pub, but me assigned to only 20 hours a week . As we would live in then one of us would be around all the time and would be able to supervise any child who would be placed with us.
I fully appreciate the risks involved but feel sad that possibly judgements and exclusions will be made on this especially after all our hard work over the last year, but yes I understand the childs well being is paramount.
The pub is in a small village and has really great surroundings and living accomodation. We would be in this pub and would not be expected to move at the drop of a hat No.
We were both unemployed at the start of our application and had first been assessed as Level 4 and I was going to be main carer but then decided Level 3 would be better for us so then went to panel applying to be level 3. Finding jobs was obviously part of the panel process that was looked at and for us it would be not be a wise financial decision to reject any offer of employment especially as we are not looking at fostering as a financial incentive.
 Thank you
its not a question of judgements or exclusions its a question of assessment. its an open situation, the information needs to be gathered and assessed. remember that a lot of the children coming into the care system will have come from families where alcohol is a problem, so does this mean that you can meet the needs of children scarred by and at risk of alcohol abuse or does it limit your matching criteria (this is not a question im asking you, this is what i would assess if i was the worker concerned)
its not a year wasted, many aspects of your assessment wont change, but the health and safety check, your safer caring policy, financial assessment will all need doing again (not a huge thing)
and yes the type of pub is important, some questionable old boozer in the middle of a risky area is very different to a family orientated, restaurant type pub. these are all things to be considered. as is the type of tenure, which you say is quite secure
what you need to remember is that if your approval has so far gone through, then your personal and practical skills as carers have been viewed well and these wont change. however the household situation is a major part of caring for children so yes they will need to look at it.0

My parents moved into a pub (in a quiet village) whilst fostering, they were also with Leeds SS and there wasn't a problem. I'm not sure what level fostering they were doing but it was for 2 children with behavioural problems who were too old to be adopted - I know they were in the group of most difficult to place.
 Good luck x0
