Well I posted about this a while ago after failing the online test. Afterwards I heard my cousin had passed and been invited to interview. She's unbelievably stupid so it's disconcerting to say the least that she got through, although she didn't get the job.

It was for a local store that's been open about 3 weeks now. I've seen some of the people who were working there. Some right local scrotes. But yesterday I was told that 15 people had since been sacked from the store. I don't know how true the figure is but one was said to be selling stuff out the back, and another was supposed to be fiddling from the tills. Speaks volumes about ASDA's recruiting policy. And also, unfortunately, our village  :rotfl:

I remember the old application forms they had. They had a section of answers like 'do you like to work on your own' or 'do you like to work with others' they use to have a tick sheet if you like that they placed over the application form to match up, see how many of the preferable answers the person put down.

I'd imagine it's the same as the online test in that respect.

I passed the online assessment about a month ago, have been checking their site but there was nothing next to my active job submission. Went away overnight and got back and checked my email and saw i'd been invited to an asessment day, clicked through to book and it said it was no longer available. Rang the store who said the assessment had been that day and just to "keep refreshing the link". Still nothing on their recruitment site so have no idea if my application is still active or not :(

To all the people who are suprised to have failed the online assessment, don't assume that all answers are straightforward. I've picked out four:

19.I feel impatient with difficult people
23.I like to keep my personal life separate from my work
25.I sometimes talk about people behind their backs
37.I never take it personally when people are rude or angry with me

There are strong arguments that any answer behind "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree" could be correct for these statements. I, for one, would answer them honestly, but I wouldn't have a clue whether they were what Asda wanted to hear.
  • I am a qualified optician with over 20 years experience and applied for a vacancy in their optical store near where I live. Of course I failed the psychometric test. I should have known better than to apply anyway, as I failed the test a couple of years ago when I was looking for Saturday locum cover work.
  • As someone else who failed the online assessment and is barred from reapplying for 6 months, my only assumption is that they either look at your qualifications/background/previous salary and decide that you will get bored, or they only want 'yes men' and anyone showing signs of independent thought gets the chop.

A friend works for a supermarket chain where 'every little helps' means describing yourself as a 'vendible relocation drone at a retail collective'.........
