I know it's done on a points system...but I don't know how the points are allocated.
I got the job though and started yesterday :)
  • Has anyone got a contact number for Asda, or is there a rep on this site who resonds to issues?

Would've thought a big company would have a policy on giving feedback to potential employees, although in this market I suppose they can afford to be super choosy.

whats makes you think a big employer like asda has a policy on giving feedback, just move on and apply for other jobs,
  • Feedback is very useful so you can perform better with your next job application. Some employers are very good at giving feedback.

They don't give online assessment feedback.

but they arent obliged to give feedback, most firms dont these days,
  • For anybody who has had an actual interview at somewhere like Asda, a tip I have noticed from shopping at the store is to not smile, and to look like you would rather be anywhere else. I think that's the key.
  • Hi,
I'm glad to find out it's not just me...

I also applied for a job at a newly opening store.
My first ever job was Sainsburys and i've done nothing bout retail and close customer service since then.
I was offended by their online assessment, some of the questions with no possible correct answer, leaving you choosing between agree and disagree with stupid statements!
Still, i filled the assessment in keeping in mind what a company ideally wants.

I was turned down and 'banned' from re-applying for 6 months.
I was also gutted, i mean i've had more involved jobs than this before, i'm perfectly qualified and to keep the assessment and ban people is just ridiculous.

Obviously ASDA have paid a 3rd party to produce this new online assessment, they probably say its the most accurate personality inquiry without having to go through interviewing people.

Reading these comments makes me think...what is it they want.
Ridiculous idealistic answers, totally honest, or a mix of the two?
I'm sure a copmuter has 'the best' scores listed and your scores are based on those.

How can a supermarket be this brutal with employing assistants?
We all know its tough to get work right now, but if people with proven retail and customer service records can't get in then who?

On a side note, i managed to apply for 4 more jobs at the same asda store, didn't stop me from doing so having being 'banned'.
In fact they let you apply and use your 1st 'assessment' for 6 months.....aka you can apply but its futile.

Things like this really have a knock on a persons confidence and self-esteem, when a 20-something year old can't get one of the most basic jobs there is from a HUGE company.

I would like to complain, but i expect that would also be futile.
Only a few more months before i can give another assessment...
maybe a more random approach would catch their computers attention.

I passed the psychometric testing (have a psychology degree i saw a pattern and went for it but i've done 2 more since then so cant remember of the top of my head), the group test and the interview and got a letter saying congratulations you have past the assessment centre but we do not have any vacancies at the moment that fit your requirements and experience. Im a graduate, Im willing to do anything and its 6 weeks before xmas so i know they have vacancies and they had the cheek to advertise more vacancies the following week! I asked them to get back to me for a chat - never heard back from them! Im wondering under the data protection act if I can ask to see my file that might be the only way they will respond back to me and give me any answers.
During your induction they also get you to fill shelves for an hour, they tell you to hurry up and supervise you - FREE LABOUR - I wasn't happy about it and asked if we were going to be learning anything else - that may have been my downfall!!
I was also very enthusiastic and fun but i have a feeling that they were looking for quiet sheep to do as there told and not have any opinions or rock the boat.

summer 2011 I passed the online assessment at Asda & then got invited to the awful Asda Magic event! I eventually got the job and then they asked me whay hours I could do. I gave a them a very flexible list of what I could do....then they gave me a totally different rota. So they basically didn't listen to what I said & saw that as a bad start. So I declined the job.

Then in September I saw advertisments for staff at a huge store opening 13 miles from me so ....as I was totally desperate......I tried again. And failed!!! Then I was stuck for 6 months till I could try again.

But that is now in the past as I have a new job which I love & its term time.

But as a pp mentioned some of the questions they ask are totally unanswerable. Their Magic event is easy but they do brainwash staff & bombard you with their vendetta against Tesco!
