Was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem.
I bought this sofa (http://www.dfs.co.uk/sofas/corner-sofas/embrace/left-arm-facing-corner-sofa/) in November 2010 and took delivery of it December.
When we were in the store I asked the sales man if the fabric would bobble or clump (it's like a fleece feel and I was worried about the threads) he said that the sofa they had on display had been there for 2 years and it was showing no sign of any wear.
Fast forward 9 months and my sofa looks about 5 years old. The parts that we sit on are totally clumped together and it looks a mess. We also bought the anti stain with it and on thursday my little boy spilt a drink on it and it's stained, I phoned the insurance people and they advised me this sofa doesn't have the stain guard as it's impossible to spray it on due to the leather on it too.
Who would be my 1st point of call? The store or head office?
Thanks

Head office first.
They will then send a service co. out to have a look and right and report.
DFS will then deny any liability (prove the salesman said that it won't bobble!)
You'll then pursue via small claims court . They'll then settle on something. You won't buy from them again.
That's the standard for DFS I think.
Why do people keep on buying from a company which has more special discount days than I have hot dinners. Even in sale their selling prices are OTT for what the actual item is. A £299 sofa is not a bargain - it's just that the sofa itself will last you 4 years if you're lucky.0 -
oh dear my mom has just brought the same sofa last week...credit card bill. £0.00
overdraft £0.00
Help from the state £0.000 -
ok on a similar theme, we purchased a new sofa, again from DFS and also in november 2010. At the time, bearing in mind we never purchase extended insurance on anything, ever, we declined their stain guard (which we felt would be a waste of money bearing in mind we have 4 children 3 cats and a dog and their cover had too many "loop hole" conditions). The sales rep was informed by us both that this was not wanted.
So we left the store having signed up to repaying over 24 months thinking everything was ok. Which it was until we recently noticed that our repayments INCLUDE for the unwanted insurance. Now whilst we declined the offer of insurance, the box on the agreement was ticked (but not by us). Now ok we should have noticed this sooner or in the shop but we never. Half way through paying off the sofa, can we A) cancel the stain cover from this point on andclaim any money back from DFS for missold insurance cover?
