Let the fun begin.
I am 33 with a 8 year dd single mum. A bit a bout me I work full time (well more than full time with the mad over time I do) Come to the realisation that I should have thousands saved but only have £170 in the bank saved and have decided to set myself some goals:

Today I have done my Zumba or Zomba as dd has nicked named it as I look like a zombie extra as she said I can't dance and shouldn't join a class properly :rotfl: but i enjoy it and its fun so oh well
List for today:
As you can tell I like my lists so here we go

- save at least £10000 for the next 3 years
- Lose 46 pounds in weight
- Learn where all my money goes
- Learn to say the word no more

Today I have done my Zumba or Zomba as dd has nicked named it as I look like a zombie extra as she said I can't dance and shouldn't join a class properly :rotfl: but i enjoy it and its fun so oh well

List for today:
- Iron the holiday clothes and put away
- Tidy livingroom
- Sort out dd room
- Do a menu plan for the week
As you can tell I like my lists so here we go

Well have to say my house is looking very tidy and well organised. I did dd's room last night nearly killed me took 4 hours  why do kids rip up bits of papaer and put them in every tiny space going. Well now she has a room to be proud of for 5 minutes.
I have got rid of about 50 books sorry Mr Tbut their charity shelves look very well stocked
so hopefully will raise a load of money for charity.
I feel like i have no clothes left .... well OK I DO have clothes but not the normal amount a female requires to function properly :rotfl: but no mors clothes until christmas are allowed to be bought under the new budget but on the upside I found two pairs of jeans I had forgotten and they fit me :T
So here's to a nice NSD unless some disaster strikes to spoil my plans lol.My personal make life better challenge:

Hello!
If you're looking for cheap meal ideas, there's some good stuff on NetMums: netmums.com/food/Cooking_on_a_Budget.266/
I'm not a Mum, but I use them! Ha! Another thing is to try and keep your receipts when you go shopping, even to the cornershop, then tot them up at the end of the month. It's rather shocking to see what you actually spend!“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” ― Albert Einstein

Hi Saving - love the start of your diary, I'm in a similar position, single mum who doesn't really know where the money goes, even though I try to keep a spreadsheet of all spends, I'm always catching up on last month's spends......for example, I'm already £38 into next month's salary and it's only the 8th of the month
and I have more expenses coming up.........
Fancy coming and tackling my DD's room as you're so organised? My house is a tip, a constant work in progress, lol.0 -
Well I have been very good had a total NSD yayyy me :T lol
I did find another 5p today in my coat so have put 10p in my sealed jarI think I have about £10 ish saved now.
Looked at that site teeny and theres some great ideas there so going to base most of my menu on some recipes there thanks you for the tip
kitt thanks for the kind offer of sorting your dd's room but think I ill pass lol :rotfl: one dd is far too much for little old me ha ha on the money front I use software called budget calandar which works well for me you just input all your bills and how often they need to be paid it works it out until 2012 it keeps me on track quite well, I think its well worth looking atMy personal make life better challenge:

Did all my jobs however not the best MSE day ever. DD has totally run out of clothes so bit the bullet and took her clothes shopping how on earth does an 8 (turning 9 tomorrow) year old end up wearing 12 year old clothes either shes big for her age or clothes are getting smaller  so £80 later I end up wondering if they might last her until christmas lol. We had a great day though so well worth it.
About £15 gone in my sealed tin but that's a whole different storyMy personal make life better challenge:
