You will need to find out if they still use film.
as the syllabuses on theses courses can be as much as 30 years out of date, along with the teacher, anything they learn can be of very little value compared to getting and up to date SLR digital camera, a damned good book and subscribing to a forum such as ephotozineHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Agreed, the uni will have cameras that he can use to start with and then he can get a better idea of what he likes and what he will need for the course.0
