Hey, I wasn't calling you a liar, I was trying to help you!!!

I'm only telling you what they're thinking and if you read my posts properly I've given you all the information you need to attempt to get your money back whether you sent the letters or not. Read between the lines ;)
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • If I were you I would contact Future publishing and see if they received your cancellation letter, if they did you would be covered under the DD Indemnity Scheme. If neither they or NatWest received a letter they may have been lost in the post. The Bank cannot be held responsible if they didn't get the letter.
Good luck in getting your money back, I agree that a £38 charge for a £6 DD is very painful.

some banks allow you to log onto online banking and get the bank to cancel the direct debit. I used to be able to do this with first direct. Very useful.

I wonder if you posted the two letters on the same day then maybe they both did go astray, you occasionally hear stories of bags of mail being found months later. We all assume the post will be delivered, but it doesn't always!

I would always go back and check with the bank that the cancellation has been received. I also try and keep money in my account to allow for that sort of thing. Not easy for everyone I agree.

I hope you get it sorted. Very frustrating.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
  • Would have not have a had a letter to confirm that they had received your letter and confirmed to cancellation?

as you did not, did you not query this?

    Good news!!!!!!

Had a letter from Natwest Regional office this morning, to say that all charges had been repaid into my account, as they had found my cancellation letter. Checked my account and it has, so im a happy bunny
