Manure and dogs.....!

Hi
Our garden has been ignored for several years and has very little substance in it apart from clay!!!

I'd like to dig in some manure/compost of some sort but am worried that my dog (he who eats anything) will see it as an extra course and consequently be ill..
Any advice anyone please?
Many thanks

My dog is a walking dustbin but doesn't go anywhere near the vegetable plot. As long as you give it a good dig over you should be fine. I guess your bigger worry is cats sitting and chitting in it when it's warm"

Our dogs will eat any form of manure - horse, sheep, cow, chicken. As my heap of stable manure is on my veg plot, and I sometimes use fairly fresh poultry muck I decided to fence off the plot using second hand sheep netting and 5' posts. the fence isn't very attractive but I use it as a growing frame for pumpkins/peas.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Dogs tht gorge n manure are often sick. Mine never gorge, but that's because theygrab mouthful every now and then when I'm not keeping an eye on the in the farm yard.

My tactic for your dog woud be visit to the butcher for a nice big raw bone on the day you spread your manure for him to chew while you dig it over.

Thanks to you all for your comments. It seems that most dogs behave the same way - anything that will fit in the mouth will go in the mouth! lol.
I'll have to keep a close eye on him I think.
