Have been using the H & B beauty coupons but not the £5 off £20 ones. Is it £20 before bogof or £40 before bogof please?
    If I had known then what I know now . . .

    Hiya,
I have used one of the same type from the Daily Mail and you only have to buy £20 of toiletries before BOGOF, but buy some other 'smoke-screen' groceries as well so that your total comes to over £20 and the cashier won't then know.....

To Jake, who posted above, you don't need to buy £40-worth at all, it's £20-worth of BOGOFS that are needed (plus your other groceries as I have said).

Jake, it works in your favour, you need only £20+ toiletries spend BEFORE BOGOFS, i.e would have cost you £10+ but then you hand over your coupons (1 x £5 off £20 spend, 1 x £5 off toiletries £20, plus you could use H&B coupons 2 x £2.50 and 5 x £1 off and theoretically, 10 of the 50-points toiletries coupons but I have never got that many points ones to scan at once).

But if using a cashier, you really need to make sure you buy some other stuff as well as your toiletries - even a DVD or something that you return later - otherwise even the dimmest SA might say 'you haven't spent £20...' Also using that many coupons would take £20 off so you need to have really spent over £20 in total to use them all (otherwise Tesco will owe you money...!).

  • Just returned from Tescos - bought 12 copies of the Sun to get the £5 vouchers and used yesterday's Book voucher and 2 quick reads to bring the balance to just 50p.

Anyway, the £5 off a £20 spend voucher is also today's Mirror, Mail and Daily Star.

  • Welshy, will the £5 off £20 H&B voucher scan like the booktoken from the newspaper, I mean without necessarily buying the toiletries but just as money off your groceries? I hope you are planning a lot of shelves & cupboards in your new extension for all your H&B purchases ;) .

  • Hiya poundsinbucks  building work has ground to a halt at the mo - due to bad weather but I think I will have a few more shelving units to get in around 6 months time LOL !!! In the meantime Mr Welshy has sorted my toiletries into plastic containers in the loft (I kid you not !)

Anyway, no I haven't tried the £5 off a £20 spend against anything else. What I tend to do is:

Buy £20 of toiletries on bogof - making £10 to pay - use 2 x £2.50 vouchers and 5 x £1 vouchers - leaving nothing to pay then I use the £5 toiletry voucher which means that in effect the £5.00 comes off any other shopping I have. When I do this I pick up a cd or dvd and then have the £5 off that instead.

I haven't tried not using the voucher without buying toiletries yet as I have several combinations of the vouchers to use up and they expire on 24/12 so only 13 days to go !

  • Tried using my £5 off £20 H&B Voucher today on £20+ H&B stuff (£10 after BOGOF's) but voucher would not scan.

It worked yesterday on exactly the same shop- was the first voucher scanned.

Today had the voucher in the middle of the pile and wouldnt work- so make sure its the first one you hand over!

(mind you cant complain.. the SA got confused yesterday and handed back my £5 coupon after scanning it and taking the money off :rotfl: )
