    I've also pmd you.
  • sorry - a bit 'off-topic' but do the self scan machines scan any manufacturers coupons ? - does it take the money off even if you haven't bought the product?. Do they restrict the amount of coupons the self scan till will accept? - I have 2 x £1 off coupons from the same manufacturer - could I scan both in??

    Thanks for any clarification.

Self scan do scan any manufacturers coupons, you do not have to buy the product, they will ask for supervisor approval after about 25-30% of you shopping, yes you could scan 2 coupons the same.
Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together. :p

So I wouldn't be able to just get £2 of shopping for free if I used the £2 vouchers?-would the machine start bleeping?
    - Sorry our tesco has just introduced the self scans so I don't know how they work!!

    Thanks for any help.....

Why not use the SS a few times for one or two items using cash, debit and/or credit just to get used to the machine. After a few times you won't feel so conspicuous and you will be familiar with the order of things to 'touch' on the screen.

You will see loads of peeps going through with just a paper or a sandwich or a banana (which you have to weigh at the till) and a bag of crisps......... etc ....... so no need to feel odd with just one thing. If you buy alcohol it will beep so the SA will look up and check you are over 18, for knives etc to check your age, anything with a tag on for the SA to remove it.......... all very routine for the SA so don't think you are being scritinised (unless you are lucky enough to look under 21 for the booze;) ).

Once you are happy with everything, when you touch 'finish and pay' you touch the option for 'coupon' and it will ask you to scan it. Scan the coupon and post it into the slot, if it doesn't drop through properly it won't activate the scales which tells the machine you have done that. Just blow through the slot......... everyone does it!!........ and that should settle the coupon. Then touch pay then go on to pay by which ever method you want.

Later you will be really comfortable and even if the SA comes over to 'authorise' your coupons you won't feel 'guilty' (and why should you?).

I regularly use coupons and if ever the SA says you can only use 3, or only 30% of the total, or oohh this is for Somerfield......... I just plead ignorance and say 'sorry. didn't know that....... don't want to get you into trouble dear'....... I would rather 'live to fight another day' with my clutch of coupons!!:j :j

Go on........ give it a go.........

I wonder if someone would be kind enough to help me as I'm really struggling to get my head around the coupons. I've used them a couple of times i.e on the Tresemme and Sanex offers (thanks to the op's) but have had to copy down and do exactly what they did. I now want to buy some Colgate toothpaste, some mens antipersirant (Right Guard, I think, is the one on offer) and some ladies deodrant (poss Soft & Gently but also any other on offer. Would someone be kind enough to advise me the best quantities to do this in and which vouchers to use. I have both the sets of vouchers (the H&B ones from a very kind member of this board.)

    Many thanks in advance

I've been using this combo, hope it helps

    2 x rightguard mens deo, 2 x rightguard ladies deo, 2 x colgate pumps and 2 x plax mouthwash = £18.16, after bogof = £9.08
    Use 1 x £2.50 h&b, 2 x £1.25beauty quit, 2 x £1.25 toiletry quit, 2 x £1 plax and 2 x 40p colgate = £10.30 so all free and £1.22 off rest of shopping.
I don't have any £1 h&B left but if you do you could use maybe 4 of these to get even more off shopping.:T
