???Reclaim ppi laptop puchase about 10years ago

Hi everyone

Ive just come across this site. Its fab.:j

Well, about 10 years ago i purchased a laptop while i was a student nurse alongwith PPI. I did not work at the time due to the course but had a student bursary. I told him i was a student nurse and he put me down as a staff nurse on the application so it could go through.

I think it was Dixons/Currys. Pretty sure it was Dixons. But no longer have any of the documentation.

This does this sound like i could possibly have a reclaim??? Im sure it was mis-sold as i had no income at the time and told the shop assistant this at that time. Think he just waanted the sale.

Has anyone else had a similar case??

Cheers:)

Annette

You havent given a mis-sale reason.

Are you sure it was PPI and not extended warranty?

Im sure it wasnt extended waranty. It wasnt something i was too fussed over as it was only a laptop for uni. I recall the salesman saying the ppi would protect me if i lost my job. But i was student nurse -

the only income i had was a student bursary????

If i contacted dixons is it relatively easy to get a back copy of the relevant paperwork from the purchase???

10 years ago and via a retailer with you not sure which retailer it is, is a bit of a long shot. You can ask and give it a go but dont get your hopes up.

Dixons and Currys are the same firm but I very much doubt they will hold the information after all this time.

Even if they did, they may well not have subscribed to the GISC code (which only came in to being in 2001).

So I think the chances of you proving the policy existed, that it was missold and, if necessary, getting FOS to look at it are pretty remote.

Was the laptop bought on a loan-many dixons/currys purchases during the early noughties were "automatically" put onto a store card-these were provided by ge capital-if this is the case for you may be worth doing a £10 SAR to see if they hold any info?
We had a card set up after buying a fridge, but I do have a old letter from them with a card number on.
I had a debenhams card as well with them so hope that will appear as well.

Unless bought on credit unlikely to be ppi
