Please dont misunderstand my Q.
I am wondering why you are posting only about Salty dog for the last 3 years (ie all posts since Jan 2009 have been on this subject)?
Wow reviewing the post history.
All my previous posts related to SIPPs + HL + BestInvest as far as I can see. I don't think Salty Dog have even been going three years but just wondered if anyone had heard of them or similar. I've probably spent far too much time switching every five minutes to post.0 -
My god how time flies - I must have moved away from HL 3 years ago.............
And still not retired0 -
It can be handy at times, esp if you don't understand where a poster is coming from. I did say don't misunderstand but it seems you do?
Surely there are other things about investments to discuss?0 -

I think there might be
Funnily enough I was going to post what on earth is Unbundled / Bundled but I think I have got it (from other threads).0 -
Bundled. It is generally a marketing tool lol. For us bargain seekers.
You sign up and it is resonable, but like banks who drop the bonus rate on savings, then they whack the price up of your 'bundle'.
As for Salty Dog, it is a bit alarming the lack of those out there who sing their praises. I am thinking they at least have a good PR company- wonder if they are listed.
I suppose you could subscribe for a few months and tell us what you think? Personally I am a sceptic if you can't tell.
If there are great funds out there like ruffer, troy trojan, PAT, Fid Spec Sits- they do get written about and discussed ad nauseum.0 -

What I found a bit odd - and off-putting is that the Telegraph had not just a single article on them, but 3 or 4 references in their Money section...so I think not!0 -

What I don't like is the way the media likes to promote companies in it's articles.
You would think they would avoid promoting a company that is not FSA authorised and gives no consumer protection and is only giving information that is available in the public domain.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Like I said, they must have a really good PR.0

The Telegraph is particularly bad about publishing press releases as 'news' articles although all papers do it some extent. Read this book and your eyes will be opened to how widespread the practice is!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

I've signed up with the Salty Dog group, and just thought I'd ask again if anyone here had actually done so already? Like most others (!) I like to think I can smell BS a mile off, but I don't there seems much wrong with this service.
Here's my situation: I have a SIPP/equity ISAs with a reasonable 6 figure sum in them. But not enough for retirement. Plan to retire in 10 years, and need to boost my savings. For 5 years or so I've dabbled in this and that and kept my head above water, but am conscious that I don't have much of a strategy. I also have a pure stocks investment account that I use to play the market a bit. Just recently I've done well with banking stocks by getting lucky with my timings.
So anyway, services like Salty Dog (and I know there are others) offer a sort of structure and strategy that I feel would serve me well and reduce my irrational decisions. I plan to give it a go, and will let people know how it goes. In the meantime, if anyone has their own stories based on real experience, I would be interested."I don't mind if a chap talks rot. But I really must draw the line at utter rot." - PG Wodehouse0
