Data Held About YOU

Hi all,

Having a nightmare with my insurance company AXA.:eek:

Three years ago we had a toilet leak in our bathroom which meant a completely new ceiling in the lounge/diner, plus a new carpet. Due to this work being carried out 95% of our furniture etc was stored in our internal garage whilr repairs were carried out. Day 2 of the repairs and our garage flooded due to drain problems which has created another claim!

As the 1st builders (appointed by axa) were incompitent (PM me for more gory details)we had them removed but had to wait 4 weeks for a new set of builders so we had to live in our spare bedroom during the day (thats 2 adults and a 3 year old) also the 1st builders never covered the sofas or tv when working and this then created another claim!!!!! (see where this is going????)

Is there;
1 Any way to get in writing all details held about claims made?
2. Any way to have these many of these records deleted as i am now unable to get quotes from other insurers as considered a bad risk?

All i had was a leaking toilet and damaged drain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help me please.

Thanks
Nobby71

    1) Yes... normally simply asking will do it but if not then you can write to their data protection officer and they have to provide copies of information held (in a structured way) on you (excluding things such as ongoing fraud investigations etc). Note that they are legally entitled to charge up to £10 for this service.

    2) The incidents happened so would have to be declared. Even so, you cannot request for claims to vanish.

    That said and done I am confused why you had to claim off your own insurance for damage caused by the builders appointed by Axa. Even if it was originally handled by Axa this should have been recovered from the builders if they were negligent in their behaviour (though personally I would have expected it to be handled under a complaint rather than a new claim)

    Thank you for your comments, i shall certainly be writing to the data protection officer.

    As for claiming off the builders, i dont know what axa have done reguarding that internally unfortunately because they have paid for the replacement of my goods i presume they have to account for the money and why hence it going on to my details. That said i will certainly query this with them when i have the full details to hand.

    Once again thank you:beer:
