Halifax Credit card PPI Reclaim

Hi,

Any help would be greatfull received.

I have had a response from the Halifax saying they accept my claim on PPI on my credit card.

I have had PPI on the account since the start in 2002 but according to the letter their records only go back 6 years.

The letter mentions that some assumptions will be made on PPI and the 8% interest.

No actual calculations have been made and therefore no figure is available for me to agree.

My question is, will the halifax return all PPI payments from 2002 onwards or just the last 6 years?

Is the 8% interest return calculated from 2002 or the last 6 years only?

Thanks

David

    Hi David

Have you by any chance copies of any statements prior to the last 6 years?
If so you could send them "copies" and ask them to consider going all the way to what your bank statements date show.

Well done on your success as well.

  • The redress will be calculated according to the formula specified by the FSA.

At present they cannot give a specific figure because they do not have information going back more than six years. If you do then the figure will be different to that calculated relying solely on the data they hold.

However, because they have agreed to the redress on the formula specified, if you go to FOS, HBOS can show that it has made an adequate offer of redress which remains available, so FOS will simply recommend you accept.

On the other hand, if you do accept it and then the actual redress payment does not meet the specified formula, you will have grounds for a further complaint that they have failed to honour their agreement and, if necessary, take them to FOS over that.

Thank you both for your swift replies and on a Saturday evening!

I will see what figure they calculate and then compare it to what statement I have filed. I problably have them all in the loft somewhere. :)
