Parking Ticket - Wrong Car??

Afternoon All,

This is my first post but have found this site and the forum very useful in the past.

Anyway, onto my problem. I went to the gym today and parked my car where I normally do.

I had my training session and came out then went home. When I got home I noticed a small notice stuck to the outside of my windscreen.

I opened it and it said I had parked in an unmarked area in the car park (i.e on the road and not in a parking bay). Now here's the issue. The ticket had the details of the car parked directly in front of me, inc. the registration, colour etc.

I called the gym and they said this parking enforcement has been recently put in place, which is why I have never been ticketed before.

The question is, is this ticket valid? I called the company up and said I have been ticketed but the car on the ticket is the wrong one. They said to call back on monday and clear it up. I didn't say if I was parked in the wrong spot or not, and just left it at that. They said they will have pictures to clear it up which worries me.

How do I play this? Any advice? Thanks in advance

May be the person who got the ticket stuck it on your car.

IF all the details are wrong (registration) just say nothing. But hang on to it.

Was it a private company anyway? Name them please.

Stop worrying and for christ sake do not give them your details.
do not call them, do not contact them, it is not a parking ticket, just an invoice.
Now they buy your details from DVLA and mount a campaign of harassment against you >
but as they dont have YOUR car registration, well they are stuffed.
Now please please dont tell me you gave them the correct details over the phone.....

I have NOT given them any of my details. All i told them was my car was ticketed and but the details on the ticket did not relate to my car. Hmm, I wonder if my number is stored on their system.

They probably do have my cars details but just issued the tickets to the 2 cars in the wrong order. The company is U K C P S Ltd without the spaces so is private limited.

Just ignore it, you shouldn't even ring them.

If it's UK CPS then it's a civil penalty and IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE.

If it's on the wrong car they may be able to identify your reg no from the pictures... if they have them and aren't bluffing.

They may send you letters, some in red, some threatening court, some threatening to seize your car, but IGNORE IGNORE IGNORE.

    Get the gist? :D

    read this

The blue text is a link

you have been issued with an unenforceable invoice not a parking fine. Even IF they contact you be strong and just ignore them. They will go away in the end.

Read the parking fines board for more reassurance but I reiterate what has already been said DO NOT CONTACT THEM ATALL

Ignore it, get on with life, do "anything else" and you will pull in trouble.
    You have been correctly advised.

I re-use junk mail envelopes by crossing out the reply paid stamp and writing the name and address of the parking company and scribbling cheque payment enclosed on the front to be karma for these parasites. :D

So the point is to ignore them? Only joking - it's also my fathers car which i drive from time to time which upon reading the link, means it can be made even harder from them to chase the money.

I will keep the ticket I have received safe, I hope the guy in the other car ignores it too.

Thanks for all your inputs, I'll update if I have any more info.
