Forgotten Portman Building Society Account

HI,
I have just been going through boxes and boxes of my old paperwork and found some information on a Building Society account that I had forgotten about. I haven't used the account since around 1996. How do I access this account again as I had over £100 in the account in a statement I have from 1996. Im assuming that the Portman is still trading but under a different name or was bought out.
Can anyone point me in the right direction and how I can access this account again?

Yup, Portman was 'eaten up' by Nationwide in 2006. Simply go into a branch and I'm sure you'll be sorted out. Or give its call centre a ring to double check the procedure.0

And there was a merger bonus - £200 if I recall.0
