Try http://www.homegrownni.com/ very good quality. If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a button to check if they deliver to your area.

May not be in your area but there is Castle Farm Dundrum.
I wish there were more like them as it all helps keep money circulating in the local economy, helps create jobs and the food is fresh.

I got a leaflet from them A.L.D.A. but their veg boxes seem to contain so much imported stuff including tomatoes from Holland and white sliced pan bread I thought it sounded dreadful. Do you get a veg box from them and is the stuff all local and seasonal?

I suppose they are trying to cater for a market that is wider than just vegetable so as to reduce the need to go to shops. You don't have to buy milk from them! If you have queries ask them direct.

I buy very few vegetables as I grow most of my own, it is a hobby. Most of the vegetables are very easy to grow. More people should give it a go. I had 8 weeks of strawberries this year, have beetroot, onions, cabbage, runner beans, apples, plumbs, currents, rhubarb etc etc. Tastes better if fresh and I know what is sprayed on it. Seriously give it a go and if you are not too sure about what to do join a local gardening society or a blog. It will save money and is a good education for children.

There was a business in North down that supplied organically grown boxes of seasonal produce, unfortunately I don't now have their contact details. Councillor John Barry (North Down) would have their contact details as I believe they supplied him. Drop him an e-mail via the council, I am sure that he would be glad to help.

You could contact the Green Party in Bangor, or send them a message on facebook. They would probably know a few such people.

  • Hi my name is Nigel and im from Castle Farm Fresh Produce.

In response to the negative comment on here. I would like to point out that out of all the veg we are currently selling in our veg boxes at present the only item of imported produce is tomatoes. This is due to the poor local crop this year which any local grower will confirm.

Due to customer demand we stock a whole range of local and imported produce on our website. castlefarmdundrum dot co dot uk For those people that only want to buy local produce the option is there for them to do it by individually selecting each produce on the site. We also can exchange items on our box deals within reason.

Where and whenever possible we will ALWAYS grow or source local produce. I am passionate about the quality of our produce. to find customer feedback on our service please search for 'castlefarm dundrum' on facebook. It speaks for itself.

We offer a FREE delivery service across most of County Down and Belfast with prices cheaper than Tesco and ASDA on our box deals.

We are more than happy to answer any questions you may have regarding our service.
  • Id just like to say Castlefarmdundrum are brilliant! The amount you get in a box is unbelievable far better quality than any shop. Staff are so good will bend over backwards for you.
Lets support people like this rather than criticize (when you are in the wrong to start)

I was just wondering how you came to the conclusion that there is so much imported produce in our boxes given the items are currently seasonal? I think that is a totally unjustified comment given that you have never used our service and have no knowledge of our produce grown/sourced.

Regarding the bread and milk. Both suppliers are NI companies. Not major retailers. 99.9 per cent of people use these items on a daily basis. Our business is all about customer demands and needs. We would be happy to answer any other questions you may have directly
