We're flying this route in October. Has anyone flew this route recently? I have read quite a few reports on TA stating they use old 747's, lots of tv screens not working and a lack of alcohol after a few hours
Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!

Flew on it in July. Those who say the planes are "old" are pretty clueless. They are about 10 years old which is fairly young in the big scheme of things. However they haven't had much done to them since getting them and they are showing a bit of wear and tear. They are a mixture of the order that was redirected from
Al-Italia (signage in toilets for etc is still in Italian) with the crap IFE and some of their own 744's with slightly better IFE.
Going out plane was about 70% full and drinks were always available. Coming back, 95% seat factor and no problems with alcohol either.
no problems with IFE on either flight. Of course we might have got lucky! There are a lot of stupid people out there who do seem to spend hours figuring out how to turn them on...
If possible go online and book some of the "better" rated seat locations.0 -

Of course Virgin are now rated a 3 star airline, same as Ryanair and Easyjet. There was a discussion on Vflyer and the rep from VS instead of accepting the deterioration in service just tried to blame a conspiracy against them. But the fact is that the hype doesn't match the serviceThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
