Alzheimer's Society - anyone fancy sponsoring me?
Options
My 5 year old daughter and myself are taking part in a sponsored walk for the Alzheimer's Society on 25th September and it would be great if we could get some sponsorship for this wonderful charity.
I've set up a Just Giving page here http://www.justgiving.com/sharon-Rollin.
Any donation you can manage would be greatfully appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Hi Sharon, have yo had permission from the Mods to do this. I think you normally have to.
Please dont take offence, Its to safeguard you as well as us. Especially since bank details are involved etc.
My brother died of Alzheimers while still comparatively young, 51 so I do sympathise.
Good luckmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No, but I read the sticky and as I understand it you can post requests if you are raising money for a UK charity and as long as it's through a fundraising site like justgiving.org, which mine is.
I appreciate your concern, but through Just Giving, no bank details are involved and Just Giving send the money straight to The Alzheimer's Society and it doesn't come to me or my personal account.
I'm sorry to hear about your brother and thanks for your wishes too.0 -
Okay, sorry, could I ask how does this money get to just giving, never had any dealings with them.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It is absolutely fine to post a JustGiving page on this board (and this board only).
JustGiving is an online site for charity donations (and there are others). I'm in a rush now, but there is an article with details and if no-one else has linked to it by the time I get back I'll do so. It's very widely used, and as safe as buying something online IMO - usual caveats apply.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Just to say as a former employee of the Alzheimer's Society well done for supporting such a wonderful organisation. Though everyone thinks of Alzheimer's, there are many forms of dementia and the Society helps in all types. Dementia is an increasing scourge on our society and as pointed out, it's not just 'old folk' who are affected. People have to give up work because of it and though drugs can slow the progression there is at this point, no cure.0

Just to say thanks for those of you who have donated, and there is still time for you to help me reach my target of £100.
The money goes to providing services for people with dementia, such as one to one support for people with dementia and their families, befriending, peer support and many others.
Please, please help! IK know what I'm doing isn't super human, but dut to back problems I can't do anything like jumping out of a plane and my daughter is just 5 and she is walking with me to help raise funds.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post. Here's a link to my Just Giving page:
