BG websaver 10!
Hi,
Just recieved my latest quarterly bill from BG ( I'm on duel fuel websaver 10 ) I have just looked over my electricity bill to check the latest price rise which was implemented on the 18th of August. My findings are that the second tier rate has risen from 8.066p (ex vat) to 10.536p (ex vat) that is an incredible 31% price rise! For a household that uses a lot of electricity this is literally a 31% rise in your electricity bill. I will be contacting them to see if this is a mistake and if it isn't I think I'm done with them!

Your done with them to do what and go where?
All this changing providers on the whole seems a pointless exercise

It sounds like if you leave you'll cut off some of your nose to spite your face.
Of course, using a comparison site will allow you to see if there are cheaper tariffs for your particular usage in your region of the country.
However, Websaver 10's tier two rate was very low to begin with, and compared to many other tariffs from other suppliers, is still competitive.
You signed up to a variable tariff, yet seem quite shocked in finding the price has now increased. Remember, the % increases reported in the media are general averages for all tariffs, payment types and regions. To list every one would take up too much space in print.
Plus I suppose there's the smoke and mirrors of cancellation fees to contend with (will they/will they not apply).
Best of luck in what you decide

Just as a statement of fact, my wesaver 11 went up 34% for my usage. I've rang BGAS a coupe of times (I was switching), and I have been met each time with 'no you are mistaken, no one has faced increases so large', yet when they check, they are surprised to find it is a 34% increase in my case. Interesting to see if you get that response too.
I've now switched to Scot Powers 2015 fix, which turns out very slightly more than ws11 increased prices for me. I didn't have to pay the leaving penalty (unfortunately, you almost certainly will, because by doing nothing you accepted the increase). So today I'm paying about 35% more than I was last week (the switch has just completed), but that is fixed for about 3.5 years. There were prices available 20% less than I'm now paying, but they weren't fixed, so I'd expect them soon to overtake what I'm paying.0
