Apple juicing

Hi everyone.
I have loads of apples on my tree, ripening fast. I want to make them into apple juice but have no pressing machine here! The local farm will press them for me, but will charge me, obviously.
As an alternative, would it work if I put the chopped apples into the microwave till they're mushy, and then press through a muslin??
Seems to be a cheaper and more convenient method of getting juice, but was wondering if I'm missing some obvious downfall!
THANKS ALL

Hmm... not sure about the microwave option, but since you'll presumably have this coming up each season perhaps a small investment might be worth it.

Or you could use the ebay rental service - find a juicer on ebay, juice your apples, then sell the juicer again. Although if you are going to have this issue every year I agree that investing in a juicer might be a good idea.
