HI,

Can anyone suggest what my next step...

About 6 weeks ago I talked my mother in law into getting Broadband. Due to the area they live BT were the cheapest. After install we had a issues

1. Broadband installed - No Sync.
2. BT engine came out and installed a new socket with double face plate. 1 socket for phone and 1 socket for broadband.
3. Engineer left and the phone no longer worked. No outgoing calls and call quality very bad.
4. New Engineer came back out 5 days later and replaced socket saying the double faced socket's were known to him for faults. replaced with single socket that ruquired a microfilter.
5. BT have now charged £130 even when the engineer said there would be no charge due to BT faulty equipment.

Mother in law wrote a letter, and BT rang saying it was a faulty phone or sky box so charge standards. Skybox isnot connected and we tested with a different phone.

Whats the best thing to do next to get someone to help?

Best regards

Barry

I very much doubt that they were...even on a Market 1 exchange there are many cheaper resellers than BT. Plusnet being the obvious one.

Sound slike the engineer closed the job with the wrong code ("customer's equipment responsible") even though the socket fitted by the previous engineer was the cause.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
  • Hi,

Thanks David, have sent a message

I did look at Plusnet, however they would only guarantee a speed of 0.5MB. With BT we are getting 2.5MB

    Thanks

But Plusnet are using exactly the same line and equipment as BT, so Plusnet would also have got you 2.5Mbps...
