The thing i have done is I've started in a very tiny way to make some of the money in my current account "earn its keep" so to speak.

I normally pay for my petrol by debit card as I need it but budget for £5.50 per day, based on usual mileage. However, I've hit on the idea of paying a week's worth of money (£27.50) onto my credit card first and then purchasing my petrol using my credit card instead BUT closely record and monitor my "Petrol Spending". Benefits of this....
    • Money already allocated from current account so can't be spent on anything else!
    • Money will temporarily reduce credit card balance and so reduce interest charged each month
    • If I spend less than my budget, money saved acts as a "snowflake" towards CC debt :)
I know that this may only save me coppers each month but I think by "ringfencing" what is a regular but frequent expense it will allow me to budget better :).

    What does everyone else think?

  • Hello everyone
Sorry, a bit late today, but have been busy

    • tidied and sorted items for boot sale which we did this afternoon. Didn't make a lot (not many people there tbh) but at least got something for the bits we no longer want and it's more clutter out of the way
    • did weekly shop using list and stuck to budget
    • put meal plans up on fridge for week ahead
    • arranged swop of coat with sis - she's going to come and see us in a week or two which is brilliant (lives 250+ miles away)
    • read a bit more of decluttering book
    Tomorrow I need to:

    • make some Twinks hobnobs
    • get OH to carry on excellent progress with clearing some of his clutter and likewise pick a drawer for me to complete
    • allow OH enough 'off task' time to make scrummy Sunday dinner
    • do some preparation for going back to work on Monday. Been on 3 weeks leave so it's going to be very hard :(
    • get clothes lined up for next day so am not in a panic about what to wear (least of my worries really :rotfl:)
    • take DS1 to football but NOT spend any money whilst waiting around to bring him back
    • take DS3 to rugby and ditto
    • make weekly timetable so I can see what nights I can fit in things I want to do around DSs activities/sporty stuff
    • have an early night (bath, book and relax)
Hope you are all having a great weekend
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.

    My list for Sunday:
    • Do the required work
    • Check emails
    • Complete daily clicks
    • Sort paperwork
    • Submit s&s paperwork
    • Sort diary for next week
    • List 5 items online for sale
    • Finalise accounts for August and raise due invoices
    • Catch up with the washing
    • Quick shower
    • Bath dd

I think that is everything for this weekend.
    Aiming to get Debt Free.
  • Sorry, forgot to mention I got another Piggy Bank for 99p from a charity shop. I now have four in total - one for pennies and tuppences, one for five pences, one for ten pences and today's addition is for twenty pence pieces :).

I'm not sure how much is in them but I don't want to know either :p. I am very good and never "dip" into them.

    Monring all!
At last the visitors have gone:j:j It seemed like a marathon stay this time......
So today is getting back to normal and getting ready for first day at work after 6 weeks off:eek:

I've already taken the dogs to the park and picked a load of pears off the tree in the back garden for mum to take home and packed them off with a packed lunch for the journey home.

    The rest of today....
    • Do 2 loads of washing - bedding and towels from visitors done
    • Quick hoover round and dust done
    • Get clothes ready for work tomorrow (inset day) and first few days back in 'proper' work done
    • Make sweet potato soup for tea changed mind as it was too warm
    • Stick to diet - been difficult with visitors but haven't gone mad thankfully done so far
    • Maybe dye hair with bargain hait dye (its was priced wrongly on the shelf and so ended up costing me £3 after I'd taken overpriced receipt to customer services:T for a refund) Can't be bothered!

    • Look at first few 6th form lessons again done

    • Get textbook ready to send after selling it for £15 on Amazon done
    • Go through meal plan for the week and jig it about if necessary done
    • Have a rest in my lovely quiet house! doing now!

    January grocery spending - £82.73/ £120
  • Morning everyone.
After yesterdays wet and soggy day the sun is out today! :j
Haven't done much today so far, had a £1.70 sale on Ebay so hopefully that will be paid for today and I can get it wrapped to post tomorrow and help with my declutter! Have taken interesting recipies out of a supermarket mag which has gone in the recycling and fed pooches.
Gonna get a quick shower and dressed in a min and think about brekkie as OH still in bed.
Not a lot planned, will take dogs for a long walk as the weather is good, might pop up to Aldi for a couple of bits and spend the afternoon doing boring diploma assignments, then get a few bits on Ebay this evening.
Was given a bag of apples off my aunt yesterday :D so they are to sort and stew for the freezer at some point too but not urgent!

Have a nice relaxing Sunday everyone!
