Parking ticket from Premier Parking in own housing estate

Hi, ive been reading through the forum some really interesting and helpful reading regarding private parking tickets.
Here is my story, I live in a flat in a private housing estate (persimmon) and they have contracted the idiots from Premier Parking to stop people from parking in the estate even if you live/rent there!!! They used to clamp but that has stopping to due the changes in the law so now they give out parking tickets. I live with another person (landlord) he parks his car in garage so i have to leave my car on the main road outside the estate
So Wednesday night i finished at the gym and quicking ran inside to drop my gym bag off and pick up my dj equipment to load into my car to go to work, i was literally 2 min and they got me  with a parking ticket outside my own f***ing flat
So i have a few questions, can i avoid paying this ticket?? as i have been told my landlord they (premier parking) were voted in by all the tenants?? does this make a difference in a legal sense
There are signs (big red ones) stating you will be fined if you park inside the estate even if your a tenant??
Any help would be greatly received!!!

Ignore them, whoever they work for matters not, they can not penalise you for parking anywhere. However in your case you have an absolute right to park as you live there!
As a point of interest how they hell are you supposed to park if you have no garage or two cars? Is this Exeter?0 -
No its Plymouth, I have to park my BMW soft top on the main road which is a 2 min walk from my flat, worries me as you have allot of dodgy characters walking down that main road its only a matter of time before cars gets broken into, also i have elderly parents one has parkingson's and the other has a really bad hip they cant even park outside and have to park down the street its a absolute nightmare!!!
So im 100 per cent fine to ignore??? even tho the majority of the tenants stupidly have voted to keep these idiots in!!!
The other worry is the car is registered at my parents house as i have moved to different place over the last few years makes it easier that i dont to keep changing my details, i dont want my parents getting stressed and worried over this!!!
Thanks for your reply0 -
I could not say ignoring it is 100% certain! However I would wager you will win the Euro Lottery before you receive a court summons!
You say you park on a main road, is this private? What normally happens is once the estates are finished the local council adopts the roads, it has not been unknown for PPC's to leave their signs up and ticket on roads they have no right too!
Unfortunately you cant stop the letter chain! however ignoring them normally brings it to an end sooner.
One thing that would concern me is where are you supposed to park, there is little chances of them going anywhere with one invoice, but if you continually have to park there, and you receive multiple invoices it may entice them to have a pop at court?0 -
I dont usually park outside this was just a one off as i was in a rush to get to work, i park on the main road which is owned by the council and there are no double yellows or parking restrictions but just a hassle tbh!!
Have you ever know of these sort of parking tickets going to court???0 -
I think the OP has to park 2 mins away on a normal road because of the PPC ticketing if outside the house. With a soft top BMW that's not safe. Could be worth asking about the lease etc of the house to say if it says anything about parking, lease trumps ppc signs anytime.
PS, watch the blighters about clamping as the law as NOT yet changed.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Not a good advert for the house builder is it? "Come and buy our lovely new home. Included are carpets, all white goods and parking tickets for parking on the road".I'm retiring at 55. You can but dream.0

you parked on a main road owned by the council and a private firm is trying to give you a parking ticket?? sounds like fraud/deception/ threats by menace/ something or other by false representation to me. I'd go to the police as only they and traffic wardens can give out tickets on council owned ie public roads. I can picture where you live also being in Plymouth would not park by soft top car down there....i park on the main road which is owned by the council and there are no double yellows or parking restrictions but just a hassle tbh!!

Try reading the OP's post, he normally parks on the public road as he lives on a private estate which is patrolled by a private parking company, he has received a ticket for parking outside his own property on the estate not for parking on the public road.0 -

On their website they claim victory in court, but if you read into it it seems they were being sued for clamping. They won the case as the car they clamped was over 3 spaces!
Totally different animal to a parking charge. Were they know they would almost certainly lose!0 -
Ignore the clowns, what is the landowners damages for you parking your car there?
Zero. How much can the landowner sue you for for damages for trespass?
Zero.
Ignore the PPC, get the residents together to either sack the management company or force them to get rid of the contract0
