Which make electric jigsaw should I buy?

Well, the brushes appear to have gone on my Einhell cheapy jigsaw, and I can't see an easy way to replace them?
I have just done some googling and get the idea that the better jigsaws have an end cap on the motor, so access is easy to replace brushes in the future. Anyone recommend any makes or models? I don't want to buy another which won't enable me to replace brushes as and when they need replacing.

  • Think jigsaws are one of the tools where you will see a massive difference between a DIY tool and a 'trade' version. We use makita barrel grip saws and they are brilliant. They are used in our workshops and on site and we never have any problems. Can get them for around 100 quid if you shop around.

If you can get through a set of brushes, you must be doing an awful lot of work.
You need to use good quality professional tools, which have a repair depot option, so you can get spares.

As previous post. You either use 10 x £10 tools, or 1 x £100 tool, but the improvement in performance of the £100 tool, will outweigh the spread costs of 10 x £10 tools. "Do it once, and do it right." Yes?

The quality makes include Festool (very expensive) , Matabo,Fein and Makita. Over the years I have had a fair few makes but tend to stick to Makita now, just my opinion but De-walt are poor quality tools now so the sooner they concentrate on developing tools again instead of tool belts and trousars they would be a contender again..

I second that with dewalt, have spent many £'s over the years on them but they are not as good as they used to be, now as i go along needing to replace i buy Bosch the profesional range (blue ones). Will keep the dewalt stuff for back up use.

Hi , I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know what the Erbauer range of jigsaws are like?

Screwfix have the ERB389JSW 710W Jigsaw on offer at the moment for £69.99 instead of £99.99.

    Thanks for any comments!

Bosch Blue are also very respectable tools. My current stratgey is to buy cheap the first time I need a tool, and then when it breaks or isn't accurate/man enough for a task, replace it with a decent one from the likes of Bosch, Makita etc. That way I don't pay lots of money for a tool I only end up using once. Also means I've got a few spare cheap tools to lend to people and I don't care if they come back broken.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.
