Manga Force magazine *WARNING*

Options
A friend of mine who is really into Manga recently bought the new 'Manga Force' magazine which you may have seen advertised on the television.

She was highly disappointed with it. She describes it as a 'glorified six page leaflet' which is full of advertising and simply trying to get people to subscribe to the magazine. She was expecting articles on the story of manga, how to draw manga and things like that, but it was nothing much - anyone who has watched the featured DVD could throw it together.

There is also a 'slight' implication with the target audience. The audience they are aiming for is 11-15 year olds. Yet they are giving away DVD's with 15 and 18 certificates with their magazines.

Something is amiss here!!! Don't be fooled!!

    I am a bit confused
If it is the magazine, what point would there be in its only function being getting people to subscribe to buy the magazine?-if its self evidently one long (short apparently) advert?

Not only that its going to retail at 7.99 I think. You can buy the manga dvds cheaper than that from a store.

Sadly, its the time of year for these subscription mags, and they are rarely value for money.
Last year was the 3 million issue Nitro Car that actually cost over £300 to make.
As silaslang says, you can buy them cheaper than that from a store!

To be fair , it does say on the bottom of the TV advert "Some films are rated 12 , 15 or 18" . It should be up to the shop to reinforce that as they will be breaking the law by selling it to underage people .

I don't usualy post on this kind of forum, but I made an account just to correct you.
    1. It advertises on the first and last page, and it is at the side and out of the way in small print.
    2. When the magazine was advertised, they in no way stated that it would contain tutorials on how to draw Manga, that was merely a misinterpretation by your friend.
    3. The information inside the boolet was precise and helpful. It contained information on the creators of the anime, smmeries to the anime itself, among other intersting facts, most of which you would not be able to find out just by watching the anime.
    4. Manga Force did not state that it was for 11-15 year olds, it clearly states on the magazine that it is not to be sold to under eighteens. There is no need to lie to make your rant sound more convincing.

However, there are some bad points to the Manga force collection. Firstly, it claims to be Manga, but is in fact Anime. Secondly, some dvd's were in Japanese with English subtitles, however that was only because dubbed versions had not been made yet.

I know this is an old thread, the last post was in 2007, but I just had to set some things straight.
