We paid privately for this as the consultant stated that she did not feel it was necessary. However I wanted her to have both tests therefore I paid for the US with the understanding the mammogram was next week. I am hoping that a clear US means that a mammogram will show nothing too. I am pretty annoyed with the hospital that I had to go private for this when other hospitals seem to offer a fantastic one stop service with all three tests on the day of seeing the consultant. The consultant practically laughed at my suggestion that we would be having the mammogram the same day.0 -

It does seem like you have a very uncaring consultant. Hope that the mammogram is clear.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Must say that was my first thought too...I was recalled for U/S after the mammogram showed something. Luckily the U/S was all clear and I only had to wait 5 days between mammogram and U/S but it was a very long 5 days so I do sympathise at 4 weeks. Hopefully as U/S was all clear she'll be fine - good luck and let us know how she gets on0 -

And for me I had only an U/S
I saw my GP on the Monday and was in with the Consultant that Wednesday. He was certain that all I had was fatty tissue and all I needed was an U/S to confirm it and glad to say he was right0 -
I lived in Surrey at the time and found a lump just before Xmas 2009 but put off going to the GP til mid Jan 2010. She referred me to the breast clinic and I had a mammogram within 2 weeks which showed nothing untoward, I too was told I had lumpy breasts. Anyway, the consultant felt the lumps and I had an ultrasound which did show the lumps and after I had had biopsies the worst was confirmed. However after chemo they had shrunk so much I only needed a lumpectomy and not a mastectomy. Finished radio just before last Xmas and touch wood all is fine.
I would guess that if the ultrasound didn't show anything and she has lumpy breasts then that is very good news.0 -

This was the same for my mum, she had a mammogram which showed something and got a letter with an appointment in 5 days. She went on Monday and thankfully was given the all clear. I was really impressed with the service. :T:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0 -
If you are not happy then get on the phone... get on the cancellation list for mammogram, contact Consultants secretary to let them know you are not happy with the wait etc.
Sometimed with the NHS you have to be pro-active about these things...0 -
i did ask ask was mine a cancellation because the appointment was so very quick. i was told it was the norm. i saw the consultant, had 2 mamograms & received results all within a couple of hours. my hubby found a lump in his breast but had to wait 2 weeks to be seen. again, consultant, ultrasound & results all within a couple of hours.
