Wanting to set up not for profit website

Hi all,
My partner and I are on DLA and Incapacity benefits and housing and council tax benefit. Our health is too fluctuating and unstable to work for money. Would we be able to set up a website for no profit without it affecting our benefits? Many thanks

you dont need tell and map out what you do in your lifes to DWP.
What is the website for and going to do.0 -
It will be a site for disadvantaged people to find friends and have a space to get help with difficulties etc.0

Sounds like a good idea.
Maybe you should tell DWP to cover your costs on setting it up.... (Joke)
Good luck with the site

kinda like many areas of mse?not to mention a 100+other sites?
good idea but its been done and is being done
on a constructive note if you could position it more specifically towards people with a certain set of problems then you may get some interest.
good luck0 -
OP - if you are setting up a site which will take money off people, regardless of whether you intend that money to be for you, you will need to register as a charity otherwise the money coming in will be classed as yours. This also applies if you plan to make money from advertising on the site. So if for example you plan to charge people to join in order to make enough to cover the costs of running the site, that would be classed as self-employed income, and whilst it may well be a nil profit, you'll still have to register self-employed, complete accounts etc.
Of course, if there is no income stream from the site, i.e. it's just a website that is free for users and has no income from advertising or selling marketing lists or anything, you should be fine.0
