Tax Credit Letters, How Long?

Hi

I called the tax credit people on the 24th of August, to inform them of a change. I wondered how long it usually takes for a letter with details of the adjusted award comes through. I wasn't paid yesterday, so am a little concerned I'm no longer entitled.

I just tried to call them, but strangely, they 'can't deal with' my call now, what with 20 minutes to go until 2000.

I don't understand that bit. to nswer your query, a lot longer than just over a week. It can take several.

Do you normally get paid weekly or monthly?

I only ask cause I'm paid weekly and anytime I've made a change its usually the start of the week I call and its adjusted for my payment on a friday, the letter takes longer maybe 1-2 weeks to come out in post. If its taken longer for the payment to be altered its usually the start of the next week you just get an extra payment.
  • I meant that they are supposed to be open for calls until 8 p.m. but I was just getting the BT lady.

I usually get paid weekly, on a Thursday; yesterday's the first occurrence of no payment. So I'm worrying a little too soon then.

  • When I am working on the phone lines in my job I rarely take another call during the last 20 mins we are officially open. I may be still writing up the previous call or dealing with other admin. A call can take 20 mins on the phone, then another 20 mins to write up and send letters etc. So I " can't deal with" late calls in the last 20 mins before closing. Hope that helps - different context I know.
So I would recommend trying to get through rather earlier in the day if you can.
