DVD + harddrive Recorder

Hi

I'm looking for a DVD-RW with a hard-drive of at least 160Gb instead of a VHS. I know nothing about them, can someone please direct me for functions that i should want or any information that is useful to know about them?

Thanks...

    Hi,
I was looking for the same sort of thing a few months ago and purchased a Yamada DTR-1000HX HDD+DVD Recorder with DVB-T. I got it from Maplin and if you sign up to their email you can print out discount vouchers, I got £15/20 off it so it was just over £200. There are various GB size models in the Yamada range, The one I've bought has a built in freeview tuner so you can record one channel & watch another. Only just getting this bit working as we needed to get an aerial that could get the freeview signal. Recording wise it's good but beware the instruction manual - I suspect it's been translated from Chinese/Japanese and bits of it seem to be in the wrong order and a bit back to front.
Having said all that I think it's good value for money and it does what I want it to do.

My father bought a yamada - bout as user unfriendly as you can get and, yes, the manual is unintelligible. I got a liteon, great machine but now superceded (sp?). This appears to be the replacement for ours. I accept no responsibility for ebuyers customer service however.

  • You could get a VHS, DVD(RW) and HDD. JVC and Toshiba do them.
  • I've actually just been looking at on a DVD Player and Recorder Guide Web site before checking out what you guys have to offer. I though it was useful.
    It was DVD Recorders Guide

It says something about only having one scart input. With yours, do you have a seperate freeview box in addition to the TV, and do they both need to be plugged in to work? Cheers

Not checked mine, but I have only 1 scart lead into it anyway, from the sky box. It also has an analogue aerial in.

If you have a freeview already a recorder with a second digital tuner will mean you can record one channel and watch another.
