First time seller on ebay - any help/advice?

I've been buying off ebay for quite a while and have good feedback but want to take advantage of the free listing weekend but I'm confused before I even start!
Do I need to do something different to register to sell? Any other advice would be welcome as I bet I will be on here asking questions all weekend!
Thanks for reading.

There are some tips fo rnew sellers here to start you off:

However, use your existing account to sell and open yourself a new one to buy with, do not combine the two. Just make sure your postage is accurate and you know how to stay safe with selelr protection.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm not disagreeing with you in any way. I was just wondering why you suggest to have 2 accounts -a "buying account" and a "selling account".
I have always just had the one account.
Surely, this may cause issues as only one Ebay account can be linked to one Paypal account, and you would need 2 emails to open 2 accounts on both Ebay and Paypal?
I didn't think Ebay liked you to have two accounts (I know this is mainly due to schill bidding).
I know you'll have a good reason to make this suggestion which I just don't know about! :T0 -

Ebay have no limit at all on the number of accounts you have and up to 8 can be linked to the same paypal account.
There are a few reasons to seperate buying and selling not least of which is that there are some funny people out there, and if you buy something and leave a non positive they may just be tempted to do something daft like buy something from you and neg you in revenge. barely a month goes by without someone posting that as a good idea on here where a seller has received poor feedback.
Then of course many of us buy on ebay and resell on ebay- and it is obvious then that we would prefer those transactions seperatedI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Brilliant, thanks for that!
I've been on Ebay for about 10 years and always just "blacklisted" people who were "funny", by using the "blocked bidders lists" (so they couldn't bid on any more of my items).
I don't do it, but I see the points about buying and then re-selling, and didn't realise that Paypal could be linked to 8 accounts.
One downside is you would lose your buyer feedback, and start selling as a zero feedback.
You do learn something every day though! :beer:0 -
I've just listed my first three items but cant find where I can specify that I only post in the UK at the moment. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
No bids as yet so will be driving you all mad when I actually get a bid thats if I get any!0 -
Go to you account, site preferences, make sure you press the show all on the right hand side.
Postage & Packing preferences
Exclude postage locations from your listings, edit, & then block out any overseas you don't want to send to.
There may be an esier way but can't remember it.
Have you set up your buyer requirements as tight as possible?0 -
From what I can remember near the bottom of the advanced sell form you can specify where you ship to, although even as a beginner I would recommend selling to the European union (not the whole of Europe, and not Italy) because you don't have to fill out customs or anything on EU parcels and it will open up a whole new buying audience0

Thank you I have managed to block the ones I dont want to ship to and I think I have set buyer requirements tight. Time will tell though - I do have bids on two of my three items tho!0
