Research study on DWP benefits for disabled, by IFF research

Hi all, I have today received a letter on DWP headed notepaper.
The letter states that IFF as an official contractor to DWP have been given names and addresses of people receiving DLA, and IFF has posted the letter on their behalf.
It goes on to say that IFF may be in touch in the next few weeks to see if I would like to take part in this research, and it may involve a range of activities such as taking part in a focus group, either at a neutral location, or at my home, or it may be an interview.
Then in bold it says everything you tell the interviewer will be in complete confidence.
Then it just goes on to tell you about what to do if taking part (nothing) or if not taking part to telephone (names of 2 people and a phone no) before 15th September.
It states the purpose of the research is how disabled people experience claiming benefits.
I'm not sure if I want to take part TBH, and just wondered what others think about this, or indeed has anyone else got one or taken part in one? TIA, C.C.L.

Thanks Northerntrish, that's exactly why I posted on here because that's what I thought. If you don't want to take part you have to ring and tell them. I'm thinking just ignore it. Another point is where it states about claiming benefits whilst disabled, apart from the DLA and SDA, I don't claim any other benefits, so it's got to be linked with disability benefits and nothing else. And why would they want you to go to activities?
I googled IFF, and all I could really find was stuff about back to work and benefits, got fed up of looking and came on here.
  • My partner and I also received something like this last week and we declined to take part. Can you believe they even sent a book of stamps to tempt us!!! How patronising!

I question the rationale of simply ignoring this sort of thing.

Are we all completely happy about the way the DWP does things, and think it doesn't need to change in any way?

Or that it shouldn't try to get information before it changes things?

there is some genuine doubt as to how such information might be used by the dwp, again my advice would be dont get involved

Is this the trial with g4s, the one that I think is being used to test out a possible future replacement for ATOS?

The same g4s that has staff that cant even tell a false leg from a real one, the same one that lost a contract for manhandling a person to death on board a airplane?
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

It would help if you knew the information that is to be collected before jumping to the conclusion that it will be used against you.

Surely if you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear. This being the case you would have nothing to lose by participating and could possibly help bring about a positive improvement in the service.
