Railings damaged during soil delivery

Hi, I had some railings broken when soil was being delivered by a company called Springbridge Direct.
It was delivered by a truck with a crane but, because of park cars, the bulk bag of soil weighing a tonne would only reach as far as the pavement, the driver suggested that he lift it over the height of the railings and I push it a few times to get it swinging enough to clear the railings. This I duly did but he didn't drop it down in time and it came crashing in to the bottom of the railings and broke three of them.
They're denying any liability for repairing them.
Any ideas?

Yes; you aided and abetted (ie gave him permission to try the risky manoeuvre) I would say it is your problem.0

you knew you had a delivery and didnt arrange space for it, you didnt want it on the pavement as that would be more of a problem for you, you helped, you're responsible...0
