Entitledto.co.uk does this sound right?

I just wondered if this sounds right to you guys as I've never claimed anything before.

I'm due to go on Maternity leave in December after the first 6 weeks I will go on Statuary MP and get £128.73 a week plus an additional £81.73 for my car allowance from my work.

Looking at entitled.co.uk it says I'm also entitled to £57 a week working tax credit and £59 a week child tax credit plus child benefit. It just seems like a lot to me, does this seem right?

My husband is out of work at the moment and not claiming anything.

Thanks for your help

Donna

I believe tax credits ignore £100 per week from your maternity however to calculate your annual income this year you would need to add your wages till December then your maternity so whether you will be entitled will depend on your total estimated for the year. When you first apply they will base it on last years and then you can call and give them an estimate of this years but you may find with your full wage for 9 months + maternity you may still be over the threshold

edit: I have just realised you are probably looking at this for after the baby is here. Same really will apply they will use the previous years household income to calculate. After your normal maternity leave the working tax credits will stop (unless you are back at work)
If you do estimate be aware there is no disregard amount so anything you earn over your estimate will mean an overpayment (eg if your husband gets a job)

Thanks for your reply. I've re done it and now it says that I'm entitled to nothing. It's all very confusing. I think that I'll have to wait until the baby is here and apply.
