  • Hi

What do we do if our house is totally different from all the others in our road? We live in a, well, I don't know what you call it, its not even a hamlet, its not even on most maps, but there's quite a few variations of buildings. One farm, one 'big' house, a few newish semi's and ours, a small 2 bed detached cottage. none of the others is remotely like ours. How can we get a comparison?

I was under the impression that only the VOA could change a banding and the council just paid out.

We moved into our house in Jan 2005 and after seeing the website I insisted my husband write to the council and we won! All my neighbours are giving it a go now and my parents as well! Thank Martin!

  • Yes poorperson, the VOA changed the banding and the council sent me the refund, however I never dealt with the VOA once ,my local council sorted everything out and were really helpful.
  • Cheers Lou83a,

A helpful council, whatever next? I won't ask where you live but it certainly isn't in my council's district.

I have received notification from VOA that we have been rebanded from 1993 so will be writing to the Council asking for a refund plus interest - just in case.

Plus side to VOA is that when I visited neighbours to tell them how to go about it - they have all received notification that they have been rebanded as well. Must check about refunds for them though don't want to bankrupt the Council, but hey they should have done it right in the first place.

SUGGESTION - WHY DON'T PEOPLE CONSIDERING DOING THIS BAND (SORRY NO PUN INTENDED!) TOGETHER TO REBAND THE WHOLE STREET. OR LET ONE PERON BE SUCCESSFUL THEN COPY LETTERS TO NEIGHBOURS FOR THEM TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

As always - a big thank you to Martin :T
